CAPOEIRA CLASS DESCRIPTIONSGet in shape, meet new friends, and do things you never thought you could do before! TEEN AND ADULT CLASSES Capoeira Fundamentals: The first Tuesday of each month, this beginner class is devoted to the fundamentals. The class will be slower-paced than regular beginner classes. Students will leave with a basic understanding of proper technique for the fundamental capoeira movements and familiarity with the rituals of the roda. There are no prerequisites. This class is perfect for people who are new to capoeira as well as more experienced students who want to review the basics. * Because of their large size, class registration and start times are strictly enforced. Latecomers will not be allowed to train once class has begun. Basics class: We recommend that all new students start in basics classes, which focus on technique. Beginners may also take mixed level classes, but should complement this training with basic classes. Basic classes are not a level that students move through: they are focused on building and refining basic skills. Advanced students often continue to take basic classes to work on the foundation of their technique. All Levels class: These classes are open to all students but are geared towards whomever is present. If the majority of students in a mixed level class are advanced, the class will be more advanced. Often, to accommodate all levels, the instructor will split the group so that students receive training appropriate to their level. Friday Workshop Classes - Periodically, ABADÁ-Capoeira San Francisco will offer special workshops classes in arts related to capoeira. Some workshops offered will include maculelê, floreios class and capoeira as self-defense. Taught by Mestranda Marcia or guest instructors, these classes are available for $16 drop-ins, or with class cards. Please note, some classes may be have restricted enrollment according to cord level. Please check the calendar for schedule of Friday Workshop Classes. Sundays Teen & Adult Community class - This is a community all-levels capoeira class that is free for teens and open to adults for a $10 donation. Funds from adult fees directly support ACSF's Teens Travel To Train fund-- a scholarship that sponsors one or more select teen capoeiristas to travel to Brazil for the Jogos Mundiais (World Games). This class is taught on a volunteer basis by Graduada Tulipa. Free Teens Capoeira (Ages 13-19): Designed to provide teens with a safe space to challenge themselves, develop bonds with their peers, and act as a bridge into the adults capoeira class.
