Donate and Support ACSF

At ACSF, we are thankful for the support of our donors who make it possible for us to make a deep and lasting difference in the lives of thousands of youth and young adults each year.
Core to ACSF's mission is our commitment to nurturing the positive development and long-term success of disadvantaged youth through a combination of in-school, after-school, weekend, and summer programs. ACSF supports more than 800 young people through FREE capoeira classes, and another 12,000 with dynamic educational performances. Every day we are mentoring and inspiring Bay Area youth at sites in some of Oakland and San Francisco's poorest communities.
Through our programs, we've helped countless young people transform their lives and grow to be confident, responsible adults. At ACSF, youth see peers helping and encouraging one another, and they see those choices being modeled and supported by adults they respect.
In the words of one twelve year old student, "they believe in us, and help us believe in ourselves. They have confidence in me, and that makes me feel stronger. Confidence is the key to success, and the only reason I know this is because this is what ABADA-Capoeira gave me. I know I am accepted and so I want to try my best."
None of this is possible without the unwavering support of community members like you. The commitment of our donors has fueled ACSF's success year after year, allowing us to continue our work as a prominent artistic, cultural, and social organization.
We hope you will continue to be part of the rich fabric that binds the ACSF community. A gift of any size helps ABADÁ-Capoeira San Francisco reach its goals!

What Our Youth Have to Say about ACSF
ACSF teaches camaraderie, respect, how to read body language, and mental and physical discipline. The community is great. ACSF has changed all of our lives.
Capoeira has introduced me to the culture of Brazil. It’s my favorite way to relieve stress, and can really be fun. It relaxes me, and helps me think. Being fit is empowering, it gives you the advantage in sports and gives you confidence in yourself. Confidence is the key to success. The only reason I know this, is because this is what ACSF gave me. It has given me the confidence to do what I would like, and not need the approval of the majority, not fit in, Capoeira is where I fit in.
- Reid, 13 years old, started capoeira at age 6
ACSF teaches me self-discipline. It's helped me in my studies. Self-discipline has allowed me to pay attention to whatever I put my mind to, such as school work.
Capoeira helps my outside life by teaching me to follow rules with respect and integrity, also to be creative in my academic structuring. This allows me to not look at rules or schoolwork as things that keep me back but as chance to be thriving creatively.
- Sophia, 11 years old, started capoeira at age 5
Capoeira is important to me because it keeps me strong and happy and I always feel good about myself after class because I know I tried my hardest.
- Teihani, 11 years old, started capoeira at age 8
I have been watching my big brother Golden do capoeira since I was 2. I knew one day it would be my turn. I did it on the sideline during Golden's classes anyway. I love being upside down and playing drums. Now can finally do a cartwheel with my legs straight! I fix Mama's words when she sings the songs wrong in Portuguese. I love how strong I am.
