27th Annual Youth Fest – May 24-27

Special guest Professor Gordinho and Professora Yara & more!

ACSF is proud to present our 27th annual Youth Fest! Youth Fest 2018 includes the Batizado graduation ceremony and performance, a capoeira master class, and the SF Carnaval Parade. The event brings together youth from ACSF’s school-based and on-site programs.

Thanks in part to funds generated by the students themselves at the Youth Gincana, we will bring guest Brazilian artists Professor Gordinho, Professora Yara, plus several Instructors from around the globe. The event kicks-off on Thursday, May 24 at 5 p.m. with a master class led by our guest artists for youth of all ages.

On Friday evening May 25, we will present the Batizado graduation and performance. The Batizado is a traditional ceremony that welcomes new students into the art, and recognizes the growth of new and continuing students through a changing of cords ceremony. The event includes an opening performance by top-level guest artists and ACSF company members, and an after-party with healthy snacks.

To culminate the season, on the morning of Sunday, May 27 we invite all youth and families to join our contingent for the SF Carnaval Parade. ACSF youth and adult students will bring capoeira music and movement to the streets of the Mission District as part of 40th Annual Carnaval San Francisco. Carnaval is part of the rich cultural history of San Francisco and we are proud to participate once again.
