ACSF FIRST OFFICIAL EXTENDED-STAY ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCY PILOT PROGRAM

acsf-Instructor-Mobilinha

Guest artist Instructor Mobilinha, from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is here in San Francisco for a two-month residency. Instructor Mobilinha is son to Mestranda Mobilia , who himself came to San Francisco 20 years ago for a month-long residency with ACSF.

The development of an extended stay residency program has been a long-time goal for ACSF. We annually bring numerous artists to SF for workshops and events, but until now had not established a formal artist-in-residence program. Instrutor Mobilinha’s residency is a pilot project, created with the intention is to establish a structure where we host one artist for a two to four month period on an annual basis.

During his stay he will receive mentorship in teaching and training from Mestra Márcia; gain insight into the “nuts and bolts” of running a nonprofit arts organization; and contribute to our community through volunteer teaching and performing.

A HUGE thank you to longtime community member and supporter, Katherine Kemerait for providing housing for Instrutor Mobilinha’s stay. This is a critical component to our capacity to offer him this experience.

Please welcome him to our community and feel free to invite him for sightseeing or other projects so he feels at home in San Francisco!
