We’re thrilled to welcome Renata Barrella / Professora Iguana from Brazil as our second extended-stay artist-in-residence. Professora Iguana is one of the most internationally renowned female champions and teachers of ABADÁ-Capoeira. A long-time student of Mestre Camisa, she began her training over 25 years ago and has since become one of Brazil’s prominent capoeiristas. She regularly competes, trains, and performs in Brazil and internationally. In addition to capoeira, she practices and teaches Crossfit, along with athletic mobility classes. She is married to our artist-in-residence, Professor Jabuti, and is the the mother of their two children who are joining her here in San Francisco. We could not be more thrilled that she’s joined our staff. Stay tuned for her teaching schedule.
