Join us for a joyful celebration of growth, skill, and community as we honor our capoeira kids during our June 2026 Batizado Event Series. This special week features workshops, performances, graduations, and cultural exchange led by renowned guest artists from Brazil and across the U.S. Our honorary guest artist, Mestrando Diguinho, joins us all the way from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Additional guest artists include Mestranda Yara (Washington, DC), Mestrando Côco (Florida), and Professor Ferrugem (São Paulo, Brazil), along with our exceptional team of top-level in-house artists.
Sunday’s batizado graduation and performance is open to the public, and families are encouraged to come cheer the kids on.
In addition to children’s programming, Mestrando Diguinho will lead workshops for teen and adult students throughout the week.
Kids’ capoeira workshops will be held on June 4th and 6th, during regular kids’ class times, giving our young capoeiristas a chance to learn, play, and prepare together. The batizado performance and ceremony will take place on Sunday, June 7—get it on your calendar!
Adult/teen workshops with Mestrando Diguinho will kick off on June 7th with a community discussion and artist roundtable at 5 pm following the kids’ batizado, and then workshops will take place Tuesday through Thursday, June 9th-11th.
It’s gonna be a high-energy week for kids and adults alike.
