ABADA-Capoeira SF March News!

ABADÁ-Capoeira Oakland

Dear Community,

As we look forward to spring, we see that this winter put our values into action.

The San Francisco Unified School District teachers’ strike in February amplified the struggles of our city’s educators—several of whom are parents of our young students. To help working parents who couldn’t stay home with kids, we quickly pivoted to offer a low-cost Capoeira Day Camp for youth ages 5–12, led by ACSF’s Mestra Marcia, Mestrando Jabuti, Professora Iguana, and Instrutores Papagaio and Toninha. What was a stressful week for many became less so, and was filled with movement, music, art, and connection. We’re deeply grateful to our teaching staff, who adapted their schedules on short notice to support our neighbors. Young campers even got a taste of what our summer camp is like (more on that below).

Inspired by the success of the strike-week camp, we’re offering a Spring Break Kids’ Capoeira Camp from March 30 – April 3 (see below to enroll).

We’re also celebrating growth across the Bay. ABADÁ-Capoeira Oakland, led by Professora Sucurí, Professora Estrela Vesper, and Instrutora Tatú, continues to build strong community in the Fruitvale District and greater East Bay.

In downtown Oakland, Mestrando Jabuti’s 8-week Tuesday night intensive, ABADÁ-Capoeira SF in Oakland, has been generating powerful energy and runs through late March and get in and train while it’s on. (Stay tuned for info on a possible extension.

We have exciting programming lined up for the months ahead. Take a look below and join us in what’s to come.

Axé,
