
“Professora Ciranda”
Professora Ciranda, is the founder and director of ABADÁ-Capoeira Marin, established in 2014 to make Capoeira a permanent part of Marin County’s cultural landscape. A four-time ABADÁ-Capoeira Games champion, master teacher, and performer, she brings over a decade of experience teaching Capoeira to children, teens, adults, and seniors. She is a longtime student of Mestra Márcia “Cigarra” Treidler, one of the highest-ranking capoeiristas in the world.
Originally from Goiânia, Brazil, Lisa holds a degree in Public Relations from the State University of São Paulo and has worked extensively in marketing, community outreach, and arts education in both Brazil and California. She has also been a core performer with the ABADÁ-Capoeira San Francisco performance troupe since 2008.
Lisa began teaching Capoeira in San Francisco schools in 2009, where she witnessed its transformative impact on youth, inclusion, and community building. With a strong commitment to cultural preservation, equity, and education, she grew ABADÁ-Capoeira Marin into a certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit by 2019. Today, Lisa remains an active educator, mentor, administrator, and international performer, dedicated to sharing Capoeira’s cultural, physical, and social benefits locally and worldwide.
