Join ABADÁ-Capoeira San Francisco (ACSF) and Artistic Director “Mestra Cigarra” for a preview performance of CIGARRA & Guerreiras Nessa Arte – a multidimensional performance that creatively presents stories of women in Afro-Brazilian traditions, including Márcia’s legendary role in Capoeira. Joining Mestra Cigarra in her creative development of the project is Claudia Escobar, a self-described “Latin visual storyteller” who uses photography, journalism, illustration, and film to create and share stories of migration, artists, and cultural makers.
The showcase offers a sneak peek of our upcoming production, which is scheduled to be staged on May 3 to 5, 2024, at Z-Space. The preview performance will be presented at our Capoeira Arts Center, providing a more intimate and up-close viewing experience. The preview will feature snippets of what will be presented in May. An artist Q & A will follow the performance.
