About the Teachers

Known for his kindness and energetic leadership, Instrutor Soldadinho (Miguel Angel Hernandez Guerra) @soldadinhoacsf has risen to become one of Mestra Márcia Cigarra’s most active and respected students.

Born in Lagos de Moreno, Mexico, he was introduced to martial arts in 2006 when he began training taekwondo, and then Capoeira. Two years later, he moved to the United States and began training with Mestra Cigarra as a student in ABADA-Capoeira SF’s free teen program. He received his corda roxa/marrom (purple/brown / instructor level cord) in 2021.

Soldadinho has taught and performed Capoeira across the bay area, inspiring and training youth of all ages and backgrounds.

Instructor Papagaio (Elias Gonzalez) @elias_dangon was born in Guatemala and began training Capoeira with Mestra Márcia Cigarra as a teenager in 2007. Known for his warmth and dedication, he has grown to become a lead student and performer.

He loves composing and singing Capoeira songs, and has not only composed music for our events, but has also earned several awards at Capoeira song competitions. In 2008, Papagaio began assistant teaching in the kids’ and teens’ Capoeira classes and started leading classes for both youth and teens, including the Sunday Community Class, in 2010.

He continues to grow as an instructor and serves as an important role model to the numerous youth he works with in San Francisco schools.
