Help ACSF bring Professor Jabuti and Professora Iguana to San Francisco!

We are in the process of establishing a formal Artist-in-Residence Project designed to bring high-level Capoeira artists from Brazil for one to three-year stays. This project will provide important workplace and travel experience to high-level Capoeira instructors and performers, and in turn will expand ACSF’s teaching and performing roster with new, seasoned practitioners.

As the demand for ACSF’s youth school-based programs rebounds post-pandemic, so does our need for more instructors. The Artist-in-Residence Project will help ACSF meet community demand for programs while providing key learning and teaching experience for guest artists, and will bring new artist talent to the Bay Area!

For our first residency, we are working to bring top-level artists and partners, Professor Jabuti and Professora Iguana. Both have been artists at previous ACSF events are both are stellar artists and humans who are excited to come to the US to share their talents.

To make this project a reality we need to provide a safe and affordable living space to any traveling artist. If you know of any affordable housing situations, please reach out to Jennifer or Márcia with leads and details. Obrigada!
