Meet CIGARRA Performer, Professor Prego

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Professor Prego (Diego Silva de Freitas) is an accomplished athlete and artist who’s dedicated his life to the study and teaching of capoeira. He grew up in a large family in which he and his siblings played capoeira as children. In 2002, he began training as a teenager with Mestrando Arporador of ABADÁ-Capoeira.
In 2012, he moved to New York, where he assisted local ABADÁ-Capoeira teachers with their social programs in many locations. In 2016, he moved to the Bay Area and joined ABADÁ-Capoeira Marin as artistic director, partnering with Instrutora Ciranda to develop capoeira in Marin County, where he teaches today.
