Mission: Workout Free Nov 2!

We’re proving that strength training can be joyful.

Mission: Workout instructor Renata Barrella (known in the capoeira world as Professora Iguana) is a personal trainer, world capoeira champion, and one of the first artists-in-residence at ABADÁ-Capoeira San Francisco. “We’re proving that strength training can be joyful, welcoming, and affordable — without selling you a lifestyle,” says Barella about the new program. “This is exercise for everyone.”

Born in Brazil, Renata grew up practicing judo, swimming, and jiu-jitsu before discovering capoeira in 1995 — a passion that continues to shape her life. She earned her degree in physical education in 2001, specializing in personal training, injury recovery, and women’s strength. Her purpose is to help people become healthier, stronger, and happier versions of themselves.

Renata has competed, trained, and performed internationally, sharing the spirit of capoeira wherever she goes. Now based in San Francisco’s Mission District with her husband, Mestrando Jabuti, and their two children, she’s excited to lead Mission: Workout and help build community through movement. We hope you’ll join her in this new program.
