ACSF Commemorates 23rd Batizado & Graduation Ceremony, plus Internationally Known Capoerista Mestrando Montanha Leads Capoeira Workshop Series

The batizado is a traditional capoeira ceremony in which new students are initiated into the world of capoeira. For all students of ACSF, both new and continuing, the batizado is a celebration. The event serves as a gathering for the ABADÁ-Capoeira community, drawing together beginning students with some of the highest level practitioners and leaders of ABADÁ. Highlights of the event include performances by high-level guest capoeristas from all over the world, including for the for the first time ever in San Francisco, Mestrando Montanha.

ACSF’s Adult/Teen Batizado and Graduation Ceremony will be held October 12th from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
The public is invited to this captivating event.
Doors open at 10:30am – $10 suggested donation.

In the week leading up to the batizado, Mestrando Montanha will lead a series of master classes for local, and traveling ABADÁ students from Vancouver, Puerto Rico, Nantucket, Tucson, New york, Washington, and Chicago.

Mestrando Montanha has practiced capoeira since 1987. He lives and teaches children, youth and adults in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
