“Graduado Dezenove”
Graduado Dezenove was born and raised in a small town in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
His capoeira journey began at the age of 10 through a capoeira social project, where he first experienced capoeira as a powerful tool for transformation, discipline, and community building.
From his teenage years, he continued his development by training alongside his older brother until 2019.
In 2019, now living in Niteroi, he joined Abadá-Capoeira, a decision supported by his brother, who is a friend of Mestrando Arisco from Abadá-Capoeira, Angra dos Reis (RJ). That same year, he participated in his first Zumbimba in person, an immersive experience led by Mestre Camisa, founder of Abadá-Capoeira,
In 2021, Graduado Dezenove moved to Vancouver, Canada, where he connected with Graduado Astronauta, head of Abada Capoeira East Vancouver. During this period, he supported Astronauta in teaching capoeira classes, actively contributing to training sessions and community activities. He received a graduation recognition(green cord) in 2022 with the participation of Mestra Marcia Cigarra and the team, and continued to assist in classes and events like the graduation ceremony throughout 2023. The graduation Ceremony had workshops with Mestre Morcego.
From 2024 onward, he has been training under the supervision of Mestra Márcia Cigarra, continuing to develop his practice and teaching approach within Abadá-Capoeira. In the same year, he travelled to Washington DC to attend the Capital Games under the coordination of Mestranda Yara with a workshop of Mestranda Gigi.
In 2025, He also participated in the Jogos Mundiais in Rio de Janeiro, attending workshops with mestres and mestrandos, reinforcing his connection with the global Abadá-Capoeira community and its roots, and he travelled to San Francisco a couple of times to have in person Class with Mestra Marcia Cigarra, including her 60th birthday celebration and graduation ceremony, where he received recognition for his dedication (purple and green cord).
Currently, Graduado Dezenove is dedicated to volunteering in a social project that brings capoeira to vulnerable children from newcomer families in South Vancouver, using capoeira as a tool for inclusion, empowerment, discipline, and building stronger communities. Giving back to the community the same love and respect he received through it.
