ABADÁ-Capoeira San Francisco (ACSF)
Code of Conduct
All members, teachers, students, staff, volunteers, and visitors are required to read, understand, and follow this policy at all times.
I. Introduction
ABADÁ-Capoeira San Francisco (ACSF) is committed to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for everyone. Violence, abuse, harassment, and misconduct of any kind are strictly prohibited. This Code of Conduct sets the standards of behavior expected of all participants in ACSF programs, events, and activities. Adherence to these standards is essential to the safety and well-being of our community.
II. Prohibited Conduct
The following behaviors are strictly prohibited at all ACSF activities, events, and facilities:
Interpersonal Violence
Any behavior used to gain power or control over another person, particularly by exploiting unequal power dynamics.
Physical Misconduct
Intentional physical harm, inappropriate physical contact, withholding basic necessities, or providing alcohol or drugs to minors.
Sexual Misconduct
Sexual harassment; non-consensual sexual contact; sexual exploitation; sexual bullying or hazing; exposing minors to sexual content.
Emotional Misconduct
Verbal abuse, threats, intimidation, physical aggression, stalking (including online), isolation, or deliberate exclusion.
Bullying and Hazing
Aggressive or coercive behavior intended to harm, humiliate, or control another person emotionally, physically, or sexually.
Harassment and Discrimination
Unwanted physical, verbal, or implied conduct that causes discomfort, fear, or mental distress, or creates a hostile environment.
Child Abuse
Physical or sexual abuse, neglect, trafficking, or any form of harm to a minor.
Other Inappropriate Conduct
Any behavior that violates ACSF community standards or applicable laws, including inappropriate or uninvited physical contact.
III. Reporting Requirements
All members of the ACSF community share responsibility for maintaining a safe environment.
Mandatory Reporting:
All adults are required to immediately report suspected child abuse or sexual misconduct to ACSF senior staff and to law enforcement.
Other Misconduct:
Emotional, physical, or other forms of misconduct should be reported to ACSF senior staff, supervisors, or a designated Safety Committee member.
Anonymous reports are accepted, though they may limit ACSF’s ability to fully investigate. ACSF will take all reasonable steps to protect the identity of reporters.
After you report:
ACSF will review the report, may conduct an investigation, and will coordinate with law enforcement when necessary. The process may include interviews and evidence review.
IV. Consequences for Violations
Violations of this Code will result in disciplinary action based on the severity of the behavior, prior history, impact on the community, and risk to others. Consequences may include written warnings, probation (with or without mandatory counseling), suspension from activities, permanent removal from all ACSF facilities and programs, and cooperation with law enforcement where required.
