“Bambuzal”

Bambuzal was born in Belgrade, but spent half of his life abroad. Bambuzal started Capoeira in 2011 at ABADÁ-Capoeira San Francisco, with at that time Mestranda, now Mestra Márcia. He will always remember his first Batizado and the opportunity to train with Mestre Camisa. Furthermore, Mestre Acordeon also visited the Batizado contributing to the incredible energy and axé. Between 2011 and 2016 Bambuzal trained with Márcia and numerous instructors that are part of ACSF. He got his corda laranja in 2015, which was also the last Batizado he participated in ACSF.

In 2016, he started traveling and visited more than 20 countries in three years. During his travels he trained capoeira in 20 countries, with 12 different capoeira schools. Bambuzal’s best travel experiences happened through capoeira. He met really nice people, learned about local cultures and traditions and is eternally grateful to many capoeiristas that positively influenced his life, such as Instrutor Tatu and Mestre Guerrero, San Jose, Costa Rica; Instrutor Neguinho, Praia, Cabo Verde; Instrutor Olinho, Jakarta, Indonesia; and many others.

In 2019, during ABADÁ’s Jogos Norteamericanos in Mexico City, Mexico, Bambuzal realized that his capoeira style has changed as a result of his travels and training with many different capoeira schools. As a result he decided to go back to his capoeira roots, in San Francisco, USA. He trained for another year with Mestra Márcia and ACSF, before moving back to Belgrade in 2020. Since then he continued training with Mestra Márcia online, and using any opportunity possible to train in person with Instrutor Coelho and ABADÁ Budapest, the closest ABADÁ school to Belgrade. In summer of 2022, Bambuzal decided to start ABADÁ-Capoeira Serbia to introduce the teachings of Mestra Márcia and bring the legacy of Mestre Camisa to Belgrade.

Outside of his capoeira life, Bambuzal has been a successful entrepreneur, clean energy expert and has received his MBA from UC Berkeley, Haas School of Business. In addition to Serbian and English, Bambuzal speaks Portuguese and Spanish. He also enjoys rock climbing and yoga, both great compliments to Capoeira.
