A native of Rio de Janeiro, Manoel Rodrigues Barros Neto — known as Mestrando Diguinho — has been living and breathing capoeira for over 30 years. He began his journey at twelve, and by his early twenties was already teaching the art to youth through school programs under the supervision of Mestre Cobra. A few years later, he founded a social project in Rio das Pedras that has since produced many advanced practitioners.
In 2019, he was awarded the rank of Mestrando — one of the highest distinctions in ABADÁ-Capoeira, placing him among a select group of future mestres. Today he teaches at schools throughout the Jacarepaguá region, including SESC, Creche Crescer, and Colégio Pequenos Talentos, and has performed and competed on stages around the world.
San Francisco holds a special place in his story: his first visit here in 2002 was his very first international trip, an experience that helped shape his vision for a life at the highest level of the art. We are proud to welcome him back for the second time.
