Marcia – Reel Queer Flix 2026

We’re excited to share that MARCIA, the award-winning short documentary directed by Claudia Andrea Escobar, will have its next local screening on Wednesday, August 12, at Oakland’s historic Grand Lake Theatre!

Presented by Bay Area film collective Cinemama as part of Oakland Pride, this is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and support the incredible work of queer Bay Area filmmakers. 🏳️‍🌈❤️

MARCIA takes us from the streets of Brazil to San Francisco, telling the inspiring story of Márcia, one of the first and most talented capoeira practitioners in the world, and a trailblazer who helped pave the way for women and queer people in capoeira.
